Patients and non-professionals should choose affiliate membership, those involved in tinnitus treatment and research should choose a category  as indicated on the form, and according to the bylaws of ITHS. All members receive 2 copies of the Newsletter per subscription, and may submit letters and articles for publication. All will be contributing to an international forum aimed at furthering the cause of tinnitus and hyperacusis sufferers.

Those professionals applying for active membership must provide evidence of a Master's degree or above, and provide two referees from the ITHS membership (see ITHS bylaws).
